It’s World Refill Day today – where people are encouraged to ditch throwaway cups and bring in their own reusable cups to fill up with their favourite hot drink.
At Sarah’s Coffee Shop, we care about the environment, which is why we are raising awareness of World Refill Day and choosing to reuse.
Although our coffee cups are fully compostable and recyclable, I want to make sure we are doing everything we can to help the environment.
While we have been unable to do so previously due to the coronavirus pandemic, Sarah’s Coffee Shop is now allowing people to bring in their own travel mugs for us to fill up!
As well as this, every time you bring in your reusable cup for us to fill with delicious coffee, we will give you a 10p discount. This means you will be saving money and cutting down on waste, all while enjoying yummy coffee! What more could you want?!
If you are looking to make further changes to reduce how much single-use plastic you use, here are some ideas:
Carry a refillable water bottle – this is one of the simplest ways to reduce plastic. If you bring in your reusable water bottle, we will fill this up for you too!
Milk deliveries – you can start to order your milk in glass bottles that are delivered to your doorstep by your local milkman. The milkman will also collect empty bottles to reuse.
Use a lunchbox – convenience food has become more and more popular and has developed into a huge source of plastic pollution across the planet. You can help reduce this by packing your lunch in advance in a reusable lunchbox, or you can pop into Sarah’s Coffee Shop where all our sandwiches are in environmentally friendly packaging!
Use zero-waste shops – there are some independent retailers who offer refills for your household essentials. This can include foods, cleaning products and health and beauty products. You just take your reusable container to be refilled – no plastic!
Take reusable picnic cups – as summer is well and truly here now, there will be lots of picnics and BBQs. Remember to take a reusable cup with you and take it back home again.
I would like to thank all of our customers for doing their bit for the environment and I look forward to filling up your reusable cups on your next visit!
